Extra provision for monks of Nea Mone visiting Constantinople

Summary:
Niketas, the hegoumenos of Nea Mone, and his fellow monk Ioannes requested and were granted by Konstantinos IX Monomachos a two-story building at the monastery of Tropariou in the neighbourhood of Angouria as a residence for the monks in Constantinople, and had their earlier annual allowances confirmed

  • Following his request to the emperor (Konstantinos 9) a chrysobull was issued granting to Nea Mone of Chios a 2-story building with courtyard at Angouria (in Connstantinople) and confirming an annual allowance to the monks: in association with Niketas 166 (In the month of June of the first indiction (1048):μηνὶ ἰουνίῳ ἰνδ. πρώτης) Nea Mone, Miklosich-Müller 5.6-7
