Summary:
Romanos IV entered Roman territory which had already been plundered by the enemy, and reached the castle of Artah, which was occupied by Arabs, who had evicted the previous strategos. They abandoned it as soon as the emperor prepared to besiege it. He reoccupied it and provided a strategos, a garrison and provisions
