Michael Psellos served at different times as krites of Thrakesion, of Boukellarion & of Anatolikon

Summary:
Psellos paid his second visit to Philadelphia as krites of Thrakesion. He was asked to solve a problem caused by the overturning of one of his own judgements as krites of Boukellarion. He had also visited Basilaon (in Galatia, probably as krites of Boukellarion?). In a difficult passage, he also seems to claim to a metropolitan of Amaseia to have been krites of Armeniakon
Dates:
1039 (Uncertain)
metropolitan of Basilaion (Anonymus 2354)
  • He had once offered Michael 61 warm baths, a black mare and a soft bed in Basilaion (:) Psellos Letters (K - D) 32, 50.5-11
inhabitant of Boukellarion (Anonymus 2382)
  • He claimed, Michael 61 told Anonymus 2381, to have received a positive judgement from Psellos as krites of Boukellarion, but a negative decision on the same case from Anonymus 2383: both verdicts survived; the krites should investigate (:) Psellos Letters (K - D) 65, 99.3-24
Michael Psellos (named Konstantinos till tonsure in 1054) (Michael 61)
  • He paid his second visit to Philadelphia as krites of Thrakesion (:) Psellos Letters (Sathas) 180.459-460
  • He praised Anonymus 2172's style, but rejected his needless defence of his obvious virtues and friendship with Anonymus 2453; envy was abroad, but he and Psellos, ex-krites of Armeniakon, could easily dispel it; greetings from Anonymus 2454 (:) Psellos Letters (K - D) 136, 161.14-163.12
