Appointment of Psellos as proedros caused some controversy

Summary:
Psellos was appointed proedros by Isaakios I. However Machetarios, droungarios of the vigla, complained. Psellos justified himself as a polymath, bewailing this reaction of a friend, a wise and learned man, and one celebrated in the Chronographia (which he would not change) [Note that Machetarios does not appear in the book as we have it]
