  • When he learned that Manuel 1 was turning east, he sent him envoys agreeing to carry out what he wanted, asking specially for Byzantine garrisons for the Asian cities Manuel chose; Alexios 17009 was sent with troops and money (:) Kinnamos 292.10-17
  • Used Alexios 17009 to cow unconquered cities into surrender (they could not fight two besiegers); but once he gained possession of them, he refused to hand them over, provoking great anger from Manuel 1 (:) Kinnamos 292.18-293.1
