Buza'a was again taken, by capitulation: Christians broke agreements by forcing conversions

Summary:
The first capture of Buza'a had been by force, but the Byzantines were driven away. After a time, they captured the town again by capitualtion, promising safety to the inhabitants, then breaking their promise by imposing forced conversion on the Muslim population, in exchange for life or freedom. As a result, ore than 500 people became Christians, among them the judge and the notaries; the road to the city was cut off, so that one had to enter via Balis

  • After capturing Buza'a by force, the Byzantines were driven off; when they won it for the second time by capitulation, they promised a safe-conduct to the inhabitants, then betrayed the agreement and imposed a forced conversion on the Muslim population, in exchange for their life or freedom (:) وكان الروم قد استولوا على هذا الحصن ... وأخذوه بالسيف ثم اندفع وعاد ... وفتحه بالأمان ثم غدر بهم ونادى مناديه من تنصر فهو آمن ومن أبى فهو مقتول أو مأسور Ibn Shaddad 374
