Election of Aimery of Limoges as Patriarch of Antioch to replace Radulf of Domfront

Summary:
Raymond of Poiters had played an influential role with force and money in securing the deposition of Radulf of Domfront. He had been pressured into this role by Pierre Armoin, the castellan of Antioch, who now tried to promote in Radulf's place a relation of his own, Aimery of Limoges, an obscure man whom Radulf had made a deacon in a vain attempt to secure his loyalty. Those who had had Radulf deposed now combined to have Aimery elected

  • He was appointed deacon by Radulf 4001 to gain his allegiance, but joined his enemies, and was elected patriarch of Antioch by the clerics who caused Radulf's deposition; particularly influential were Raymond 17001 and Petros 153, both allegedly using bribes, the second as a kinsman of Aimery (:) William of Tyre bk. 15, 16.61-66, bk. 15, 18.22-36

  • He was said to have applied pressure to Raymond 17001, first to have Radulf 4001 deposed, then to have Pierre's own kinsman, the deacon Aimery 101, elected in his place as patriarch of Antioch (:) William of Tyre bk. 15, 16.61-66, bk. 15, 18.33-36
