Rafi' ibn Abi al-Layl ibn 'Ulyan and the Kalb Arabs attacked Salih ibn Mirdas and the Banu Kilab at al-Uqhuwana near Tiberias on the banks of the Jordan. Salih's ally Ibn al-Jarrah of Tripoli did not fight in the battle, but fled to the mountains. Rafi' won the battle, recognised Salih, who had fallen off his horse, beheaded him and sent the head to al-Dizbiri, the commander of the Sultan's army
