Census of themes carried out by the anagrapheus Leon: properties & privileges of Iveron confirmed

Summary:
Leon, patrikios, notarios and anagrapheus of the West was entrusted by the emperor (presumably Isaakios I) with the task of carrying out a census of four (unnamed) themes. At this news, Arsenios, hegoumenos of Iveron, despite his advanced age, took the Iveron chrysobulls and acts of provincial kritai to Thessalonike in order to establish a list of his monasteries' paroikoi. He obtained from Leon a document listing the chrysobulls and rights of his monasteries, confirmed with the krites' signature and seal

  • Despite his old age, when he heard that Leon 120 was about to carry out a census, he took the imperial chrysobulls and acts of provincial judges to Thessalonike in order to have a list of his monasteries' paroikoi established (:) παροίκων καπνολόγησιν ποιήσασθαι Iveron 2.86.29-33
  • Requested from the judge (Leon 120, at Thessalonike) and was granted a document listing the chrysobulls and rights of his monasteries (in the month of April, of the 12th indiction:μηνὶ Ἀπριλλίω ἰνδικτιῶνος δωδεκάτης) ὡς ἐν συνόψει περιλήψεως Iveron 2.86.33-35
