Michael IV captured Deljan & Manuel Ibatzes, crushed resistance & settled Bulgarian administration

Summary:
Michael IV defeated the Bulgarians under Manuel Ibatzes, the final supporter of the blinded Peter Deljan. Michael breached Ibatzes' wooden defences at Prilep, dispersed the Bulgarian army, arrestred Ibatzes along with Deljan, and set the Bulgarian affairs in order

  • Marched against Ibatzes (Manuel 102), who had erected wooden defences at Prilep to hinder his advance; breached them, dispersed the Bulgarian army, arrested Ibatzes, set all the affairs of Bulgaria in order and appointed strategoi for the themes (:) καὶ στρατηγοὺς ἐν τοῖς θέμασι τάξας Skylitzes 414.40-46
  • He awarded Alousianos 101 the topmost honour and sent him to Byzantium; the Bulgarians, scattered by various wars and with no leader, he routed, defeated and made subject again to the empire from which they had rebelled (:) τρέπεταί τε καὶ καταπολεμεῖ καὶ ὑπήκοον αὖθις τῆς ἀφ’ ἧς ἀπεστάτησε τίθησι Psellos: Chronographia IV 49.15-19
